How do you say I love you in Spanish/Portuguese/Korean/French? Google Translate will tell you
There are so many ways to say "I love you."
We're not talking flowers or candy. Those three little words take on multiple forms through a variety of languages, and even emojis.
According to Google, the heart-eyes emoji (😍) is the fourth most popular emoji worldwide, followed by the traditional heart (❤️) emoji.
Google also says translations on its Translate service spike on Valentine's Day, and translations of "I love you" more than double on February 14.
Here are the top 10 languages users like to translate "I love you" from English, according to Google Translate (pronunciations in parentheses):
1. Spanish — te amo
2. Portuguese — eu te amo
3. Korean — 사랑해 (salanghae)
4. French — je t'aime
5. Arabic — أحبك ('ahbak)
6. Russian — Я люблю тебя (YA lyublyu tebya)
7. Japanese — わたしは、あなたを愛しています (Watashi wa, anata o aishiteimasu)
8. German — ich liebe dich
9. Indonesian — Aku cinta kamu
10. Simplified Chinese — 我爱你 (Wǒ ài nǐ)
Users of Google Assistant will notice some changes to the voice-activated service on Valentine's Day. Say "serenade me" and be greeted by a love song, or ask the Assistant "do you love me" to take a brief quiz.
