While the snow that fell Monday at New Castle Airport was far less than other spots across the state, it still set a record for the date, according to the National Weather Service.

The service measured 2.5 inches of snow at the airport Monday, bringing the seasonal total there to 55.4 inches.

That's still more than 17 inches behind Delaware's record snowfall in the 2009-2010 winter.

Monday's record beat the previous mark set in 1965 by a tenth of an inch.
