Fire meets water and s’mores will combine with paddleboarding in Dewey Beach this weekend.

Delmarva Board Sports Adventures will host the first of its “Floating Fire Pit with S’mores” series on Saturday — an event first held last year.

The floating fire pit, which runs from 7 to 8:30 p.m., will be held in Rehoboth Bay for ages 12 and up, weather permitting.

Paddleboarders launch from 125 Dagsworthy St. (Check their Facebook page for weather updates: facebook.com/delmarvaboardsports.)

If you participate, you’ll find a fire pit strapped onto a paddleboard with bungee cords bobbing in the water and be able to roast marshmallows to make s’mores.

Delmarva Board Sport Adventures’ “Floating Fire Pit with S’mores” returns for a second year, starting this weekend in Dewey Beach.

It’s all the idea of co-owner Janis Markopoulos, who even brings along a playlist with a theme: songs about fire, smoke and water.

You might hear everything from Pitbull’s “Fireball” to Jerry Lee Lewis’ “Great Balls of Fire.”

They had 30 people participate last June, Markopoulos says, adding, “They came out and were like, ‘I’ve never done anything like this before,’ and we were like, ‘Neither have we!’”

Organizers ask that you bring a headlamp if you have one. Also, prior paddleboarding or kayaking experience is required.

It costs $25 and includes a paddleboard or kayak rental, along with a light and the s’mores, of course. If you have your own paddleboard or kayak, it’s free, but donations are accepted to help offset the cost of the event.

The same event will be held several other times this summer, including Monday, June 17 (7:30 p.m.), Thursday, Aug. 15 (7 p.m.) and Saturday, Sept. 14 (6:30 p.m.).

“Putting fire and water together – two opposing elements that totally work – creates a magical experience, all while eating s’mores,” Markopoulos says. “You don’t get any more summertime nostalgia than that.”

Delmarva Board Sports Adventures offers plenty of off-centered tour events, such as full moon nighttime paddles, sunset dolphin excursions and paddleboard yoga.
