Wilmington food hall DECO holding job fair Tuesday, Saturday for 100+ positions

More than 100 jobs will be up for grabs when the new eight-restaurant DECO food hall in downtown Wilmington holds a two-day job fair this week.

The job fair will be held Tuesday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and offer both front- and back-of-house positions, including cashiers, busers, cooks and bartenders.

The fair will be held at the DECO entrance at 10th and Orange streets in the DuPont Building, which also houses the Hotel du Pont off Rodney Square.

The 13,000-square-foot, $3.5 million food hall opens Thursday, April 18, The News Journal reported earlier this month.

DECO Food Hall has been in the process of being built on the first floor of the DuPont Building. It should open April 18.

"All candidates are asked to bring a resume, and are encouraged to apply for any positions for which they believe they are qualified. Positions are available for employees at all levels of experience. Additional information for each role will be available on site," organizers said in the job fair announcement.

DECO, an abbreviated version of Delaware Collective, is a collaboration between Wilmington's Buccini/Pollin Group and Seawall Development, the company that developed Baltimore’s food hall, R. House.

The space will be managed by Connecticut-based Imian Partners, operators of the Constitution Yards Beer Garden on the city's Riverfront.

The food hall space has been undergoing renovations for the past year. The project has been delayed for several months and was originally set to open by the end of 2018.

The grand opening party, which kicks off at 5 p.m. April 18 and will run until midnight, will feature live music, giveaways, family entertainment and a photo booth while showing off the space's modern deco design.

It will also be the first chance to try the food and drinks from the food hall's eight vendors, none of which have been named yet.

However, one of the DECO kitchens will be called The Pop-Up, a rotating test kitchen available to chefs and restaurateurs in two-week and one-month blocks.

The food hall, which will also offer outdoor dining and drinking, will have an atrium bar serving beer, wine and craft cocktails. There is also an expansive event space for private parties.

Following the DECO's opening night, the food hall will be open for breakfast, lunch, dinner and bar service weekdays from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. with extended nighttime hours on weekends.
