Leonard and Renee Resetar claim that their smoothies are the best on the planet.

Soon more Delawareans will have the chance to put them to the test.

After opening their first Planet Smoothie in Glasgow  a little less than a year ago, the couple is bringing their business to Rehoboth Beach area this summer, and they hope to find a third location soon in the Middletown area.

From the Matcha Libre, a green tea, passion fruit and frozen yogurt blend, to the Chocolate Elvis, a mix of cocoa, peanut butter, bananas, frozen yogurt and nonfat milk, every smoothie is made with real fruit and natural ingredients.

"It's like a good pair of shoes," Leonard Resetar says. "There's a drink for everybody."

The Rehoboth Beach-area location will be next to Fins Ale House & Raw Bar in the Beach Plaza Center at 19269 Coastal Highway. The Glasgow store is in the Pleasant Valley Crossing shopping center at 2828 Pulaski Highway. Resetar's goal is to open near Rehoboth Beach by mid-summer.

Planet Smoothie is located in the Pleasant Valley Crossing shopping center next to Concord Pet Foods and Supplies and Royal Farms in Glasgow.

The store offers more than 20 different smoothies ranging from $5-$8. Resetar said that his staff is trained to help customers find a smoothie that matches their tastes. Some smoothies serve as a meal replacement, with more than 20 grams of protein, while others are a sweet meal addition or post-workout treat.

The smoothies fall under different categories including "Planet Lite" (the low-calorie options) and "Super Food" (acai, leafy greens and chia seeds are among the superfoods).

Customers can add supplements, called "blasts," such as multivitamin, immunity, fiber, energy, fat burner, whey protein and vegetable protein.

The process reminds Resetar of his college bartending days in his hometown of Hellertown, Pennsylvania.

"I kind of like that atmosphere, with the public. I like people," Resetar said. "You still have the same social aspect. You're still blending and making drinks."

Renee and Leonard found Planet Smoothie through a Google search. Both previously worked at MBNA and in the aviation field. Leonard currently works as the director of maintenance for an individual with a private jet. Renee works at the Newark store full-time managing all of the business operations.

"We were just searching for something healthy and fun to do," Resetar said. "There aren't a lot real close in our vicinity, which is good. We've had to educate a little bit here in Delaware."

Planet Smoothie began in 1995 in Atlanta. There are more than 100 stores nationwide, each independently owned by franchisees. The stores are mostly concentrated in the Southeast.

In 2015 Planet Smoothie joined Kahala Brands, which manages chains such as Cold Stone Creamery and Baja Fresh.
